Yes. The atlas, its connections, the Athens journey, the Daily passage widget and the first original reading of every book are free. Athenaeum Membership adds the rest, monthly or yearly, with a one-week free trial for eligible accounts. The App Store shows the price for your country.

Are the plain English versions reviewed?

No. Each one is a draft labeled Unreviewed plain English draft. The original text is always one tap away, and Compare shows the same paragraph both ways.

Which editions are the originals?

Each original is a named public-domain edition, shown with its translator and year, such as the Meric Casaubon translation of Meditations from 1634.

Do I need an account?

No. Athenaeum has no account, ads or tracking. Your reading data stays on your device and syncs through your private iCloud account when iCloud is on.

Can I read offline?

Yes. Every book, draft and guide comes with the app, so you can read without a connection.
