Where Eleusis was

Eleusis was an Attic settlement, deme, and sanctuary of Demeter and Kore. The first securely attested cult dates to the late eighth century BCE. Earlier activity and the later Mysteries must be distinguished. Athenaeum places it in the Attica & Saronic Gulf region. The source gives a located position.
